Registered Dietitian - TE - Women Infant & Children (WIC)
Under general supervision, this position will provide advanced nutritional services and assist with the Quality Assurance programs.
This position exercises no supervision.
IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Provide individual counseling for identified high risk participants as defined by the State and local high risk policy and procedure guidelines.
Provide consultation regarding the appropriate issuance of formulas; approve non-contract formulas as needed.
Assist with the Quality Assurance (QA) program to include, but not limited to continuous evaluation of individual counseling, nutrition education efforts, and clinical procedures.
Conduct and monitor self-audits; provide corrective action plans for self-audits below compliance standards, report findings and prepare reports for Quarterly QA meetings.
Review criteria and certify patients and participants.
Provide staff training on current nutrition-related topics and nutrition assessment procedures.
Assist with agency nutrition related programs and projects.
Serve as a department liaison to community agencies, task forces and committees; assist with community based assessments.
OTHER JOB RELATED DUTIES

Maintain records and reports for audit purposes.

Medical theory nutrition.
Principles of Public Health Nutrition.
Federal regulations and State policies governing agency grant programs.
Develop and implement policies and procedures.

Provide technical assistance to the program.
Assess program activity’s effectiveness and develop solutions to problems.
Work with individuals of varying socio-economic backgrounds.

Experience and Training Guidelines:
Any combination equivalent to experience and training to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be qualifying. Knowledge, skills, and abilities may be obtained through:
Maternal, pediatrics, and/or adult nutrition counseling is preferred.
WIC Nutrition program experience is beneficial.
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Food Science or Nutrition with at least 24 semester hours of college level course work in food and nutrition is required.
License or Certificate:
Current registration with the Commission on Dietetics Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
A valid current Texas driver’s license; the ability to obtain one within ninety (90) days of employment, or a military waiver is required.
Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:
With or without accommodation, ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to work in non-standard office environment such as in a mobile office or temporary location.
Potential exposure to chemicals, mechanical hazards, blood borne pathogens, communicable diseases, and constant noise.
Work may be completed outside of traditional business hours as this position is subject to emergency call back and response.
Work may include exposure to cold, heat, noise, outdoors, vibration, chemical and biological hazards.
Ability to travel to multiple sites.
