Under general supervision, directs the work of adjudicating cargo loss and damage claims, reviews major or unusual claims, and performs related tasks as required. 

The work location for this role is flexible if approved by UniGroup except this position may not be performed remotely from Colorado. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•Directs the activities of a team of cargo adjusters charged with adjudicating cargo loss and damage claims, and processing the necessary files, settlement checks and documents.   

•Adjusts standard work assignments to facilitate work flow; motivates and evaluates subordinates’ work performance.   

•Coordinates and directs claims related activities to the litigation unit when necessary.   

•Reviews and approves adjusters’ claims above their authority levels.   

•Analyzes and proposes to the Director processes for the professional development of staff.   

•Reviews, explains and may prepare written correspondence addressing controversial decisions to involved parties including customers and/or agents.   

•Reviews work flow, procedures, and systems, and proposes and implements better methods.   

•Works with employees to establish and achieve departmental objectives.   

•Participates in divisional planning and budgeting activities.   

•Interprets claims policies for agents and coordinates claim settlement procedures according to this policy.   

•Prepares and recommends claims policies to senior management.   

•Coordinates and sets up procedures with other departments, such as Revenue Accounting, Customer Service, Credit and Collections, Operations, Safety, Marketing, etc., to ensure proper claims handling and to achieve departmental objectives.   

•May be called to serve on task forces and committees.   

•Works with Information Technologies to obtain revised and new computer reports to achieve departmental objectives.   

•Prepares statistical and analytical reports. 

•Performs a variety of other duties as assigned.   


Education, License or Certification:  

•Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience.  


•6-8 years experience in Business with two years in a management capacity
