SUMMARY FOR OUR HR MANAGER: We are looking for an HR Manager assigned to our Freemont, CA location, to support our General Manager, and Site Managers in the day-to-day operation of the business.  This role advises and delivers in the areas of talent management, organizational development, employee engagement, onboarding, employee relations, performance management and compliance.   



ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Those duties necessary to meet the minimum requirements of the position.  Other duties may be assigned: 

  • Business point-of-contact for the HR function and partnering with relevant leaders as necessary. 

  • Counsel and/or mentor employees and managers regarding employee relations issues including performance management, facilitation of formal/informal investigations, and any resulting disciplinary actions. 

  • Collaborates with business leaders to interpret business needs and people priorities. Contributes to the design and/or integration of the holistic talent management plan (i.e., talent, structure, culture, performance management) for an assigned organization. Partners with business to monitor, execute, and continue to evolve and inform the right approach to grow and attract talent. 

  • Provide local insights and perspectives to VPHR, to ensure local matters are appropriately addressed and considered. 

  • Establish effective professional relationships with union representatives and meet with union officials as needed to conduct employer business. 

  • Conduct confidential investigations into complex employee issues 

  • Advise employee and management personnel on the interpretation of personnel policies, programs, and procedures. 

  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to EEO, affirmative action, collective bargaining, unions, labor relations and human resources. 

  • Investigating questions and/or complaints; resolving employee relations issues and using each complaint/issue as an opportunity to understand the true root cause and develop a plan to resolve the root cause. 

  • Identify HR Compliance risks and develop gap closure plans to address risks while implementing a systematic approach to maintaining compliance. 

  • Work with the region business leaders to determine the future staffing and development needs for the organization.   

  • Other projects as needed in support of our business objectives.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or related field or equivalent preferred, which is typically obtained through 6 or more years of human resource experience.  

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of human resource experience required, including experience in a fast paced, growing field-based service organization. Must have experience interacting with and supporting a field-based hourly workforce in a regional or corporate level role. 

  • Experience working in a union environment is required.  

  • Previous HR Generalist experience is a plus. 

  • Willing to travel 15%-25% to visit sites, meet employees and leaders, help with open enrollment, training, employee relations, or other major initiatives 

  • Demonstrated ability to be highly customer-service oriented, with the ability to professionally interact with all levels of individuals in a courteous and professional manner at all times. 

  • Energetic and focused personality with a demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines.   

  • Professional, articulate, and able to use good independent judgment and discretion.   

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills required.  Ability to successfully interact at all levels of the organization, including with managers and vendors, while functioning as a team player required.
