Environmental Services Assistant
Full time Monday - Friday 12pm - 8pm  Days every 3rd Weekend 


Job Purpose


Responsible for the cleaning of floors, stairwells, windows, lavatories and equipment; separate and remove all trash for compacting and disposal.


Job Functions

Performance Outcomes:

____    *Performs duties such as, vacuuming rugs, moving furniture

____    *Vacuuming, cleaning and polishing elevators

____    *Sweeping, mopping and buffing all tile floors

____    *Sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning fixtures and supplying paper goods to public


____    *Spotting and shampooing rugs

____    *Clean and maintain all cleaning equipment.

____    *Reporting to the Supervisor any damaged or malfunctioning equipment.

____    *Cleaning Stairwells and high dusting in all areas

____    *Assists in performing minor maintenance

____    *Assists in apartment cleaning as needed per guidelines established

____    *Performs other duties as assigned by Facilities Manager or Environmental Services

Supervisory Responsibilities





____ Specific Additional Priority Duties:

        *Daily review event calendars (for event locale set-ups or restoration), work orders, and

          individual employee mailbox (possible urgent tasks for immediate attention).

          *Vacuum the following areas daily: Fitness Center to the Glen Library, Commons Library,

           and the Glen Dining Room. Extract carpeting per schedule, or as assigned.

         *Clean (sweep, mop, and/or vacuum, empty trash receptacles) the following areas:

           Meditation Room, Pastoral Care / Foundation office, Fitness Center (including Men’s

           and Women’s restrooms adjacent), Beauty Salon (soiled towels also to be removed and

           loaded into washing machine; cycle started), Men’s and Women’s restrooms adjacent to

           the Beauty Salon, Employee Break Room (and restrooms opposite).

         *Trash and recycling removal in the Glen and Rainier Grove daily.

         *Sweep, mop, and remove scuff marks from the Glen, and ILU trash rooms as needed.

         *Perform other duties as assigned, and as service calls may require.

Working Conditions


1.         Works in all areas throughout the facility.

2.         Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours.

3.         Is subject to frequent interruptions.

4.         Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.

5.         Is subject to agitated and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc.

6.         Communicates with the other department supervisors.

7.         May be asked to work beyond normal working hours occasionally.

8.         Attends and participates in in-service educational programs.

9.         Is subject to falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc. throughout the workday.
