Position is 3 days a week.  Hours are from 8:30am to 4:30-5:00pm.


  1. Help maintain and organize two warehouses containing wheelchairs, wheelchair parts, and mobility aids.
  2. Plan, schedule and supervise activities of trustee and inmates from South Dakota Prison on a daily basis.
  3. Assist in develop and maintain accurate inventory for all parts used in manufacturing and refurbishing process. Report inventory needs with the prison.
  4. Successfully complete all training requirements of South Dakota Department of Correction.
  5. Follow all safety procedures and promote safety among employees, inmates and volunteers.
  6. Regular and reliable attendance is required.
  7. Learn how to build a wheelchair from start to finish.  
  8. Load containers as well as boxing and lifting wheelchairs.
  9. Other duties as assigned.


  1. Requires the physical ability to sit for long periods of time.
  2. Requires physical ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  3. Requires physical ability to file in a 4-drawer filing cabinet.


  1. Excellent organization and documentation skills
  2. Possess a valid drivers license and ability to acquire Class D license when required and be an insurable driver with our insurance company.   
  3. Up to date physical including compliance with Drug Test as required.
  4. Ability to organize inventory in storage areas
  5. Positive customer/vendor relations.
  6. Committed to team approach in the workplace.
  7. Knowledge of wheelchair and components.
  8. A mix of mental toughness and compassion to be able to control and supervise inmate workers according to SDSP Rules and Regulations.
