Manager, Payroll


Job Summary

Responsible for managing all aspects of payroll processing in United States and Canada. Oversee and supervise payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately and in compliance with government regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent may be asked to perform other function-related activities in addition to the below mentioned responsibilities as reasonably required by business needs.

  • Responsible for the oversight and approval of the Global payroll administration and processing
  • Directly responsible for North American payroll administration and processing
  • Oversee and administer the daily, monthly, and annual payroll process workflows by working with the internal and external payroll partners
  • Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits garnishments, taxes and other deductions
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
  • Reviews timekeeping system administration and monitors timecard completions
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions
  • Ensures compliance with country specific wage and hour laws and best practice
  • Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
  • Develops and documents new or changed policies and procedures to provide better payroll management, to maximize efficiency and improve internal control Identifies and recommends updates to payroll system, and procedures
  • Manage the payroll inbox to ensure related queries are updated and applied prior to pay processing
  • Update and audit payroll related data affecting employee pay
  • Conduct payroll reconciliations
  • Responsible for all payroll tax activities, including compliance with federal, state and local regulations, researching laws and regulations regarding taxes and payroll withholding procedures and account set-up/fallouts, and ensuring Payroll Tax Vendor receives all updated information regarding state and local tax changes

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resource or related field required.

Experience

  • 5 years of related experience required
  • Multi-State payroll administration experience required. Multi-Country payroll administration preferred.

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with payroll software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
