Job Description

Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist, reviews prescription orders for completeness and data enters prescription information into the pharmacy management system in preparation for Pharmacist verification. Obtain accurate demographic information from healthcare professionals and patients to complete prescription processing. Attention to accuracy, regulatory compliance, and efficiency are critical to patient safety and care while working within a fast-paced non-dispensing pharmacy. May be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. The Pharmacy Technician is expected to have a positive attitude and work well in a collaborative environment. They must be dependable, possess a strong work ethic, and have reliable attendance. All tasks and duties must be completed in accordance and compliance with HIPAA guidelines, State and Federal laws, and current company policies and procedures.

Job responsibilities

  • Under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist, perform data entry functions in the pharmacy management system for prescriptions received by Careform Pharmacy in an accurate and timely manner and in accordance to the pharmacy’s standard operating procedures
  • Contact healthcare provider offices by phone or fax to obtain missing patient or prescriber demographic information required to enter a complete prescription into the pharmacy management system
  • Perform call handling duties in a professional and timely manner, by receiving and processing inbound calls from patients, prescriber offices and dispensing pharmacies, ensuring caller needs are identified and met, and warm triaging to the Pharmacist or the appropriate ConnectiveRx employee when applicable
  • Perform or assist with any operations as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements
  • Provide administrative Pharmacy support as assigned and assist in the training of new associates in the Pharmacy
  • Complete all assigned trainings in a timely manner that encompass areas of compliance, corporate policies and procedures, pharmacy standard operating procedures and product and adverse event training
  • Interface with other departments in a collaborative effort to identify solutions and resolve issues
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six months of work experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • 1+ year experience in a retail or specialty pharmacy setting or healthcare environment and familiarity with prescriptions, benefits and insurance
  • Three months experience handling and resolving customer needs over the phone
  • Technical skills to maneuver through various technology systems and online resources
  • Six months computer keyboarding and math skills and aptitude are required with attention to detail and quality is essential
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office (WORD, Outlook and Excel), and navigating the Internet

Nice to Have Qualifications

  • Familiarity with benefits and insurance
  • Customer service experience in an office environment


  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred and required within 6 months of hire.
