STATEMENT OF THE JOB

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Teacher’s Aide will provide administrative and programmatic support for the Young Adult Internship Program.  It is the task of the Teacher’s Aide to provide support to the program staff and interns enrolled in the program and/or applying to the program.  The Teacher’s Aide will also be responsible to support field based activities as designated by the Program Manager.
 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Report to Program Manager

  • Conduct TABE Testing and enrollment into the internship program.

  • Maintain student files and input and maintain intern data in CCNS Client Registration Database and the funder’s YEPS database.

  • Assist with promoting physical, intellectual, social, cultural, and emotional well-being of interns.

  • Assist with providing adequate supervision of all interns during all learning activities.

  • Assist with the preparation of lesson plans, record interns’ attendance, and complete reports in a timely manner.

  • Ability to complete staff development training pursuant to the guidelines.

  • Provide support in all functions of record keeping, file maintenance and documentation according to policies and procedures.

  • Attend staffs meetings, workshops, and conferences as indicated by program policy and procedure.

  • Assist staff and Instructors/Presenters to conduct classroom or field trip activities as dictated by the course being taught.

  • Assist in chaperoning Field Trips and other group outings.

     

    NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

     

  • Participate in professional/agency community activities as assigned.

  • Participate in training opportunities as assigned.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    SPECIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

     

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

     

    SPECIFICATIONS FOR EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

     

  • Knowledgeable of youth and family services

  • Experience working with inner city families and youth.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Computer literate, including experience with all Microsoft Office software packages, wide/local area networks, and the Internet.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to work as a member of a team.

     

    SPECIFICATIONS FOR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

     

  • Ability to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends) as assigned.

  • Able to conduct field visits and travel throughout the five boroughs as needed.

  • Ability to read computer screen for long periods of time.

  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and office equipment.

  • Ability to utilize public transportation, climb stairs, walk.

  • Frequent sitting, standing, and walking.

  • Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.

  • Ability to read printed and handwritten materials.
