POSITION SUMMARY:

Charged with providing top notch service while delivering legal solutions to all departments and entities within this global company, the AtriCure legal group is busy and dynamic, handling myriad tasks including but not limited to transactional work, corporate governance, litigation and strategic development.   The Staff Attorney - Clinical position will advise and support internal clients, especially those in the clinical, regulatory, scientific and medical affairs groups, under supervision of department’s Senior Associate General Counsel.  The Staff Attorney - Clinical will help manage complex legal matters, lead cross-functional projects, as well as develop policies and procedures, and research emerging legislation and changes in the laws applicable to the company.  The ideal Staff Attorney - Clinical candidate will have the ability to interact with a variety of different departments and levels of personnel both within and outside the company. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

  • Drafts, reviews and negotiates all documents related to global, multi-site clinical trials and studies including determining the appropriate type of agreement(s) for discrete scenarios
  • Drafts, reviews, negotiates and ultimately manages the lifecycle of contracts, including but not limited to, non-disclosure agreements, clinical trial agreements, professional services agreements, consignment agreements, research support agreements, grant agreements, informed consent documents, vendor and consulting agreements, and others for various departments within the company
  • Prepares new templates and manages revisions of current templates for use throughout the company
  • Fosters strong and collaborative relationships with all colleagues, serving as a legal guide at project meetings
  • Leads legal department projects and initiatives, under the guidance and supervision of more senior attorneys
  • Is responsible for several contracting processes, including establishing processes and cross-functional teams related thereto
  • Performs other legal services under the supervisions of more senior attorneys within the department
  • Stays up-to-date on changes in laws and regulations applicable to AtriCure, especially those related to clinical, regulatory, scientific and medical affairs

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Juris Doctor from ABA accredited institution
  • License to practice law in the State of Ohio or ability to motion in
  • 3-4 years of experience of increasing responsibility in a law firm or comparable corporate legal department
  • Must have experience negotiating agreements surrounding clinical trials
  • Must have great attention to detail, and problem-solving/trouble-shooting skills
  • Must have ability to work under fast-paced conditions while exhibiting good judgment
  • Must be able to prioritize and re-prioritize various duties and multi-task as required, while clearly communicating any changes to those impacted
  • Must be a confident, goal-oriented, self-motivated team player with a service-focused mindset
  • Computer proficient with experience with Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Independent worker with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges
  • Up to 25% travel possibility

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in clinical research, medical device, pharmaceutical, or other related industries

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to regularly walk, sit, or stand as needed
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
