The Resource Center has been providing services to persons with disabilities in the Chautauqua County area since 1958. From our humble beginnings as a gathering of parents and concerned citizens who wanted to provide educational and training opportunities for persons with developmental and intellectual disabilities, The Resource Center has grown into a comprehensive agency providing services to thousands of persons with all types and levels of disabilities.

The Resource Center is the largest non-governmental employer in Chautauqua County with more than 1,300 employees on its payroll.

The mission of The Resource Center is to support individuals with disabilities and other challenges in achieving maximum independence, contributing to their community, experiencing lifelong growth, and enjoying quality of life.

STORE MANAGER

RESPONSIBLE TO:Director of Employment & Community Services

FUNCTION:

Responsible for the day-to-day operation and management of.The Store Manager leads a team that is passionate about selling merchandise and executing store plans. This position drives objectives that increase profitability and ensure customer and associate satisfaction with safety always in focus.Responsibilities include all aspects of financial and operational results, merchandising, associate development, and customer service.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must demonstrate strong leadership and teambuilding skills, including but not limited to directing others, developing direct reports and relevant others, and motivating others.Must possess and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills including compassion, integrity and trust, ethics and values that are consistent with the mission of The Resource Center, fairness to employees, listening and keeping others informed.Must be action oriented and committed to customer satisfaction.Must possess strong and effective time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to establish and adhere to identified priorities, timely decision making and planning.Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks and activities within presented deadlines.Reliability, adaptability, flexibility and a willingness and availability to work non-traditional hours in order to ensure coverage.Strong technical knowledge of retail sales environments.Ability to train others when applicable.Ability to communicate effectively with customers and others at all levels, both within and outside of the organization.Self-motivated with ability to work independently with little direct oversight and supervision.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree related to business management preferred.
  • Two years' of retail leadership experience as an Assistant or Store Manager
  • Knowledge of industry terms and process required.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license.

TECHNICAL/FUNCTIONAL/ADMINISTRATIVE:

1.Responsible for monitoring budgetary items.

2.Supervise, train and assist store associates.

3.Maintain proper inventory levels, ensure stocking, implement purchase plans, and maintain contact with suppliers to meet sales goals.

4.Source merchandise suppliers and maintaining positive supplier relations.

5.Schedules and provides daily work assignments to store associates.

6.Ensures daily financial transactions are accounted for accurately.

7.Seek ways to better promote the store, the product lines, and services.

8.Ensure the store remains clean and presentable at all times.

9.Preserve confidentiality when necessary.

OTHER:

Performs all other related duties as needed or assigned.

REQUIRED TOOLS:

Works within required electronic management software systems including point of sale etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to push and pull up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
