The Resource Center has been providing services to persons with disabilities in the Chautauqua County area since 1958. From our humble beginnings as a gathering of parents and concerned citizens who wanted to provide educational and training opportunities for persons with developmental and intellectual disabilities, The Resource Center has grown into a comprehensive agency providing services to thousands of persons with all types and levels of disabilities.

The Resource Center is the largest non-governmental employer in Chautauqua County with more than 1,300 employees on its payroll.

TRANSPORTATION SUPERVISOR

 

 

RESPONSIBLE TO:            Transportation Manager

 

FUNCTION:

 

To coordinate in-house and outside transportation services to and from TRC’s various facilities and programs. To supervise transportation staff and assist them in providing safe transportation for Program Participants while complying with Federal and New York State regulations.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Thorough knowledge of transportation processes and protocols and 19A regulations.  Knowledge of or ability to learn New York State Department of Motor Vehicle and Traffic Laws and Regulations, as well as, Federal and New York State Department of Transportation Regulations for drivers and vehicles.  Reliability, flexibility and willingness and ability to provide coverage for assigned Drivers as needed or assigned.  Ability to supervise staff who are assigned to travel throughout the county on split shifts.  Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to schedule multiple transportation routes throughout the county in an efficient and fiscally responsible manner.  Knowledge of Word, Excel, spreadsheets, and ability to implement new software for transportation.  Must obtain Reasonable Suspicion Training. Physical condition or reasonable accommodation(s) commensurate with the demands of the job.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Associate’s Degree in Business Administration or related field and two (2) years experience in a Transportation Carrier or related service environment OR High School or GED diploma plus four (4) years experience in a Transportation Carrier or related service environment.

 

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Must be a NYS 19A Certified Examiner or have the ability to become one within 6 months.

 

 

SUPERVISORY:

 

Responsible for the administrative supervision of assigned transportation staff, including but not limited to:

 

a.       Hiring, firing, discipline, performance evaluation, in-service education and training, and ensuring that there are an adequate number of staff to fulfill assigned responsibilities.

b.      Ensuring that all assigned staff are knowledgeable of, properly trained in, and compliant with all assigned duties and quality standards, as well as, 19A regulations, departmental and/or agency-wide policies and procedures.

c.       Ensures sufficient staffing for the department, including development and maintenance of a substitute pool and screening of prospective temporary employees.

d.      Coordinates staff orientation with the Training Department and ensures new hires and regular staff receive ongoing trainings. 

e.       Oversees all aspects of the workforce including timely completion of new hire paperwork, disciplinary actions and other personnel related matters.
