Position Summary: The Capital Engineering Leader is an active member of the Site Leadership Team and will perform all required activities associated with this role, including the scoping and evaluation for the execution of engineering, capital, and maintenance projects and managing projects through third-party contractors and internal partners.


Duties and Responsibilities:

· Manage the scoping, evaluation, and execution of engineering, capital, and maintenance related projects with an aggregate value of $5 - $15 million of capital investments at a manufacturing facility/facilities

· Manage, coordinate, and monitor activities of process, engineering/design, scheduling, estimating, budgeting, procurement, and construction at all stages in development of the project scope and manages the overall effort leading to an approved Appropriation Request (AR)

· Develop and implement a strong safety awareness program with a consistent implementation of policies and procedures, including construction safety audits and safety meetings

· Work closely with the Site Controller to provide project evaluation and economic analysis on the capital investments at the site

· Directly lead the site capital engineering team

· Provide general oversight to approximately 5 – 10 third-party contract engineering/design support personnel

· Manage the execution of approved projects through engineering/design and construction, while integrating plant personnel to ensure results that meet the needs of the plant Customers

· Monitor and control projects to meet the stated objectives and metrics commitments in the AR

· Individually manage $1M-$2M of capital projects as a Project Leader

· Forecast and manage capital expenditures at the site, and with respect to the site capital, communicate such information to the Project Engineering Director on a monthly basis

· Establish and implement department goals and objectives, including communication of engineering metrics

· Maintain a strong communication link with the other Site Engineering Leaders to realize resource synergies across the business

· Manage timely and effective communications with all levels of the organization

· Interface with key site and company personnel to make maximum use of available resources, including, but not limited to, other site engineering resources, purchasing, operations, systems, and business engineering, as well as equipment vendors, contracting firms

· Oversee appropriate maintenance and records of all drawings, specifications, programs, and other documentation for the site engineering department

· Provide support to the site on the business STRAP (strategic plan), 24 Month Process, and Annual Operating Plan (budget) in order to develop the site capital plan/budget

· Actively participate on the Capital Planning/Prioritization Team, representing the assigned Site

· Support operations and maintenance on an as need basis

· Implement new techniques and technologies, such as equipment reliability, predictive maintenance, etc. to continuously improve departments operations


Basic Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering

· 10-15 years of experience in increasingly related responsibilities in the capital project management and execution process

· Experience in the management of financial budgets, projects, troubleshooting, team building, and overall leadership preferred


Additional Qualifications:

· Ability to develop familiarity with the organization’s capital project management process (CPMP) and other engineering work policies and procedures to ensure compliance at the site

· Must be a self-starter and result driven

· Ability to develop thorough project execution plans, define scope, schedules, estimates, design deliverables, and procurement plans

· Proven track record of successfully managing the portfolio of capital investments, assigning appropriate resources, and ensuring all goals and metrics are met or exceeded

· Must anticipate/initiate and implement solutions, acting proactively

· Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, including mentoring and coaching skills

· Must be customer focused and dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customer

· Broad understanding of project management principles and financial analysis for project evaluations

· Must be an agent for change (not satisfied with status quo) and willing to take strong and effective action to manage capital investments

· Must be committed to continuous improvement; recommend and develop innovative processes

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
