We are looking for amazing people!  Join Virginia Housing’s Community Outreach Division as a Strategic Housing Intern! 

The Community Outreach Division solicits, establishes and maintains relationships with key groups and organizations that ultimately enable Virginia Housing to provide housing opportunities to households in the Commonwealth and support local community housing and revitalization strategies. The Strategic Housing Intern will have the opportunity to learn about affordable housing and the business of Virginia Housing by shadowing subject matter experts, reading and engagement in the business of the Community Outreach Division. This position will report directly to the Director of Strategic Housing and will assist the team in conducting research, performing analysis, developing training and supporting stakeholder engagement. 

 
Qualified candidates must: 

  • Be enrolled in a graduate degree program in Public Administration, Urban and Regional Planning, Business Administration, Real Estate or a similar program during the internship
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with people of varying backgrounds and experiences in a highly professional manner
  • Be dependable, flexible, able to multi-task and work independently in a fast paced environment
  • Be proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, database management including the ability to use the Internet as a research tool (mapping and data management tools a plus)
  • Exhibit strong analytical and conceptual skills and experience conducting research
  • Experience with web-conferencing such as WebEx and Zoom and familiarity with housing policies and affordable housing issues is preferred    
The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to work up to 20 hours per week while taking classes and up to 40 hours per week during summer break. The internship will begin in January 2022 and run through June 2022.

This is a paid internship.
